Aurora Sewing Center Owners

Scott Perry & Alyssa McDonell
Continuing a Family Legacy
Aurora Sewing Center's story began in 1978 when Theresa Findlay founded the business in East Aurora, New York, with a passion for helping people discover the joy of sewing. After Theresa's passing in 1996, her sister Regis Boire and Barbara Perry continued to grow the company, expanding with a second location in Clarence, NY. Under their leadership, Aurora Sewing Center earned national recognition as one of the country's top BERNINA dealers and became a trusted destination for sewing machines, embroidery machines, quilting supplies, sewing classes, and creative education throughout Western New York.
Their commitment to customer service, sewing education, and community helped establish Aurora Sewing Center as one of the region's leading sewing machine retailers. They founded the Bernina Club and pursued education to the fullest. In 2006 Barb Perry became sole owner and expended the offerings to include Baby Lock. She continued the educational push with Aurora Sewing Center's Sewing & Embroidery Club, while also hosting numerous sewing, embroidery, and quilting events, and built a thriving community of makers passionate about creating and learning.
When Barb passed away unexpectedly in 2017, ownership of the business was left to her children, Scott Perry and Alyssa McDonell. Although neither had previously worked in the store(s) or sewing industry, both chose to leave successful careers to continue their mother's vision and preserve the creative sewing community she had built. Supported by an exceptional team of educators, sales professionals, and certified sewing machine technicians, Scott and Alyssa have continued to expand Aurora Sewing Center's commitment to sewing education, machine expertise, and customer service.
Today, Aurora Sewing Center proudly serves sewists, quilters, embroiderers, and makers across Buffalo, Western New York, Rochester, the Finger Lakes and beyond as an Authorized dealer for Bernina, Baby Lock Brother, Janome and Juki! With locations in East Aurora, Clarence, and Victor, NY, along with virtual sewing, embroidery, and quilting classes, Aurora Sewing Center continues to inspire creativity while providing the industry's leading sewing machines, embroidery machines, quilting equipment, service, and support.
