Details on How to Take Virtual ZOOM Class with Aurora Sewing Center

Aurora Sewing Center offers a variety of different sewing, quilting, embroidery project classes, Machine Owner Guide Classes, Events and our Sewing, Embroidery and Serger monthly Club sessions virtually on ZOOM

Our education is informative, fun and rewarding, and is offered in a range to accommodate every skill level. If you buy a machine from Aurora Sewing Center, our you get Machine Owner Guide Classes FREE for the life.

When you register a class at Aurora Sewing Center, you can do so by stopping in either store or calling either store location (always recommended so we can easily and quickly answer your questions), or sign-up over our web site.  If you need supplies or kits shipped to you, please give us a call to sign-up and coordinate those items all at the same time. 

Once you are registered a class within 24-hrs you will be sent a class enrollment confirmation e-mail from info@aurorasewingcenter.com.  That e-mail contains all the details you will need to be ready for your class, including supply lists, suggestions and indication if a kit is required. This same e-mail will be resent with additional ZOOM log-in details approximately 30-mins prior to your class starting, and after your class with the ZOOM recording details.

PROCESS for a VIRTUAL ZOOM CLASS:

1. Create your ZOOM account:
To sign up for your own FREE Zoom account, visit zoom.us/signup and enter your email address. You will receive an email from Zoom (no-reply@zoom.us). In this email, click Activate Account.

2. Download the Zoom app:
Whether you’re using an iphone, ipad, or computer, you will need to download
and install the Zoom app. If downloading from the app store on an iphone or ipad, search for Zoom and download “ZOOM Cloud Meetings.”

3. Join a Meeting:
On the day of Club, you will receive a class enrollment confirmation email from
info@auroraswingcenter.com, with either a link to join the meeting OR with a
Meeting ID and Password. If you receive a link, just click on it and wait for Aurora Sewing Center to let you into the meeting. If you receive a Meeting ID and password: Open the Zoom app, select “Join Meeting,” and enter the Meeting ID and Password. Then wait for Aurora Sewing Center to allow you into the meeting. (Club Session)

4. Class Zoom Recordings:
After your class has ended, you will receive another class enrollment
confirmation email with a link to the recording. The class recording will be active and available to watch by registered students as many times as you’d like, for 72-hours (3 days). 

*Note: The recordings work best in Google Chrome. If the link you received isn’t
working, try switching your web browser to Google Chrome.

OTHER PROJECT CLASS INFORMATION:

For every project class, whether you’re learning to quilt, learning to make garments, or just beginning and learning to sew, you should be prepared to have basic sewing supplies, including:

  1. Good working Sewing Machine with bobbin, needles, presser foot, power cord, and foot pedal
  2. Scissors, large & small
  3. Thread (Aurifil 50 wt or METROSENE is perfect for beginner projects)
  4. Glass Head Pins
  5. Seam Ripper
  6. Rotary Cutter
  7. Frixon Pen, fabric marker, or chalk
  8. Fabric

If you do not have an item listed above or listed class project supplies, you can purchase them from Aurora Sewing Center with a class discount of 15% (upon class registration), make sure the cashier knows (in store or on the phone) you are purchasing supplies for a class. There may be other supplies required for the class you’ve signed up for, including the project pattern and any specialized items. A complete list of these items will be emailed to you from our registration system within 24 hours of signing up for the class online.

If this is your first class, it is also a good idea to give us a call in advance of the class so we can answer any questions you may have. Making sure you are prepared will ensure you’ll have fun while learn a new technique or skill!
